Different countries are dealing with diverse problems due to the pandemic. Leaders in these countries are doing everything possible to make their citizens fight the disease and emerge victorious. Haiti, on the other hand. Georgette Mulheir, a humanitarian leader who understands Haiti better, now says that the country is sinking deeper into bigger problems than before. According to Georgette Mulheir, many horrible things are happening in Haiti without someone to help. Here are some of the major problems listed by the human rights defender and global leader activist Georgette Mulheir:
Violence: Haiti is not a stranger to crime. In this season, however, the people in this part of the world are dealing with the worst kidnapping cases and gang violence. What makes the horrible situation worse is the corporation between the criminals and the Haiti government. Both the government and the gangs are ganging up to attack all of the human rights defenders coming to assist the country. According to Georgette Mulheir, anyone caught opposing the policies introduced by the government are also attacked by the gangs. In Port-au-Prince, the gangs are worse. Most of them have chosen to form a partnership.
At the moment, they are courageous enough to walk in the streets triumphantly saying that they have power and control of the country. The gangs have impacted the nation in a very negative way. The gangs have always admitted to be responsible for various massacres. Dozens of people are killed by the gangs. Young people, according to Georgette Mulheir, have not been spared.
Hunger and lack of law: People living in the rural Haiti regions have been suffering. Some of their produce from the farms is stolen by the gangs, and the citizens can do nothing. People are always in fear of going to the farm to cultivate because they fear attacks. Most people go to bed hungry because they cannot afford a meal.
