Michael Capiraso’s Insight on Virtual Races in New York

Posted on May 2, 2021May 5, 2021 by designingireland

Many runners are desperate for relations and normal life after a year of lockdown. Michael Capiraso, a runner, says that virtual running has come in handy during this pandemic. Having virtually run for the last year, he recommends tips for safe running. He emphasizes the importance of remaining connected with family, friends, and fellow runners. He says these runs help maintain runners’ unity through the challenges.

The need for virtual races came after the cancellation of a marathon race in Boston. Prepared athletes felt devastated over whether they would still manage to compete. In encouraging them, the planners came up with the unique race, and it was a success.

A virtual race entails running without spectators at an individual location. Athletes choose the ground to run from on either roads or tracks. It’s easy to take part in the races because athletes identify their preferred races, sign in, download the necessary particulars, and submit results.

Michael Capiraso says that outdoor exercises are better modes of staying healthy, especially now that individuals are primarily at home during this pandemic. He encourages all to participate in these races to challenge themselves now that crowd running is absent.

He says that guidelines need to be offered in these events to protect the runners and pedestrians because the races have attracted many people. For the safe completion of these races, Michael Capiraso suggests maintaining social distance. He says that heavy breathing when running can transmit the Covid 19.

To achieve reasonable social distance, he suggests running in places with less movement. On the other hand, he insists on wearing masks, although there has been contention on it from different quarters. Research has shown that there are no dangers posed by wearing masks while exercising. They recommend the masks where social distancing is a challenge. Read more: https://www.strava.com/athletes/17049729
